Hi, I hope you are having a lovely day, my name is Luciana Guzman and I am the founder of Mayoga, I am based in Tulum, Mexico and I would like to share the knowledge of yoga, and how it all began.

I was born in Guadalajara, Mexico in 1985 and I had a wild youth which led me to have a motorcycle accident went I was 18 years old, this accident broke my skull, displaced 2 of my vertebrates, and put me in a 10-day coma. I refused the surgery on my lower back due the high risk of it, but I was worn by the doctors that high impact sports were out of the picture and I will have to live under painkillers. Somehow after almost a year of intense therapy, a friend advised me to meet up with his cousin who was a restorative yoga teacher so I did, I started practicing yoga 6 days a week and in 3 months not longer needed painkillers. Then this amazing journey began, it was so fascinating, and still is, how our bodies heal and regenerate, it became almost an obsession to understand everything behind the movement and the anatomy it. And into the rabbit hole I went, everything was just so fascinating, from philosophy to anatomy, read several books, took courses, and developed a steady practice.

Live flows in interesting ways and I decided to stop yoga for a bit, then I became a mother and just devoted myself to it. For eight months, I did nothing else but take care of my daughter till one day I finally exploded and started feeling the lack of air and lost contact with myself. I went back to yoga as an excuse to have time with myself, I was craving it so bad, and don’t give me wrong I loved and love being a mom but I also understand that I could not lose myself in the process and that I needed to take care of my mind and body so I went back to my practice.

After many years of practicing and feeling in myself how a steady practice can change our life, I decided to finally share what I had learned over the years, 8 years had passed since I first facilitated yoga with a professional approach.

I started Mayoga as a dream that today is still unfolding and growing in ways that fulfill my heart, Mayoga offers more than just yoga, it offers you an opportunity to grow, to connect with yourself, and to get to know how amazing you are. It is intended to create a space for you to be the best version of yourself. I am beyond thrilled to have you here.

Luciana has lovely energy and took us thru a 90 minute practice that was rigorous, challenging, stimulating and nurturing. During savasana, Luciana opened the doors of the studio and the beach breeze came blowing in! It was a rush of energy to cap off a beautiful experience.

Luciana´s class is refreshingly challenging! It challenged all my muscles in a way I hardly get to experience. It´s super dynamic. Even though I sook like a leaf from the very first class, I couldn´t help but sign up again the next day. Luciana is a wonderful instructor and I am a yoga instructor myself. I would highly recommend anyone to sign up for her class if you would like to be challenged.
